Yapko, in his book Mindfulness and Hypnosis (p.19),  provides a definition of mindfulness, “Being mindful simply means having good control over your attention:  you can place your attention wherever you want and it stays there; when you want to shift it to something else, you can(Hanson & Mendius, 2009, p. 177).

“Paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmental” “Bringing one’s complete attention to the present experience on a moment-to-moment basis”
