Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) | Marlowe Lindberg, Counsellor serving Fort MacLeod, Lethbridge and Area

What is Solution-Focused Therapy?

Solution-Focused Therapy, also called Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), is a type of therapy that places far more importance on discussing solutions than problems (Berg, n.d.). Of course, you must discuss the problem to find a solution, but beyond understanding what the problem is and deciding how to address it, Solution-Focused Therapy will not dwell on every little detail of the problem you are experiencing.  To read more Click Here.

Disadvantages of Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • The potential for clients to focus on problems that the therapist believes are secondary problems.
  • The client may decide treatment is successful or complete before the therapist is ready to make the same decision. To read more Click Here.
